We have a 6 year old girl placed with us, she's been with us since
March. She went bed 15 minutes ago but is just crying lay in bed as
she's "scared" (she won't tell me why she's scared). A few months back
this exact same thing happened and she was awake all night.

Right. Foster children could survive anything. You need to share your experience with them. Just don't be too pushy. Some things can be painful to remember.

A nightlight could solve this problem, although this is an individual matter. It's best to be around and support somehow. Very effective are techniques with reading books, for example, some fairy tales or poems. It is impossible to load the brain with serious works before bed. It is not recommended even for adults, let alone children. The brain will analyze complex information, and it will be difficult to fall asleep. And the child most likely won't understand what it's all about. You can also talk to your child. Ask him what he did all day, any interesting moments. People feel better when they talk about their problems. Especially if the child is adopted, they have enough worries and definitely need to listen. You can find more accurate information at. It seems like fosterplus.org is dedicated to helping foster families with adoptions and various issues that have arisen in their lives.
