How often should the spark plugs be replaced? The roadster has been neglected lately, and I've also noticed an increase in fuel consumption.
I'll do a little maintenance on the roadster, and that will include rebuilding the carburetors to replace all the gaskets and other parts that suffer from exposure to unleaded fuel.
Then I thought about the traffic jams and realized that they hadn't been cleaned or replaced in probably 4 years. I pulled one out and it was very black. I have a local guy who has a sand-cleaning machine for traffic jams, and he can do all 9 for, say, $ 20, or buy new ones for about $ 50 for 9. I guess I'll buy something new.
How important are traffic jams in connection with fuel consumption? I would suggest that a dirty plug would not work efficiently and could contribute to higher fuel consumption.
Speaking of which, how do the fuel/air idle settings affect fuel consumption when you're at operating speed? I installed mine, and the vacuum gauge shows that the engine is running in the correct range. Can the poor installation of the idling propellers also affect fuel consumption?
