California still lets debt collectors empty the bank accounts of poor people. Why? - Bookak - 05-07-2020

California should join 16 other States in protecting low-income people from having all their savings destroyed by debt collectors. Senate bill 298, sponsored by Sen. Bob Witzkowski, D-Freemont, and passed by the Senate in may, would not allow collectors to take all money into a person's Bank account.

Of course, should be taken some measures regarding the debt collection from people with low income...

You are right, but who will pay their debts?

That's a great initiative. I totally agree with this decision and I think people with low income must be protected and supported. Not all persons can afford to pay for medicine, studies, or other purposes. That's why some measures should be taken in this sense, at least the period of paying back the debt must be extended. I am sure that people will pay all their fees later, otherwise, the professional debt collection agency will do their work. I was wondering how many states will join this policy of protecting people with low income.
