I think it is also depends on your personal preferences and the lifestyle hat you lead. I mean yeah buying can be a better idea from the financial reasons but not everyone likes to live in certain neighborhoods so I feel like sometimes renting is a more optimal option so to speak. I for example like to live in the center of the city (I am currently renting a penthouse in East side Manhattan) and it is amazing. It is also practically impossible to buy something in this part of town unless you are talking newly build apartment complexes and we all know that there are practically none at the East side. I also kind of like renting since it is a semi permanent arrangement and I am not really planning to settled in the near future. i actually got super lucky with my current place. I was looking online for something along the lines of large apartments east side Manhattan when I came across my current place. I immediately wanted it. I called the agency hopping that no one booked it since it was an amazing location and not as prices as I expected. I got lucky and I sighed the lease 2 days later. Honestly the place is amazing and has some dope views. I would never be able to buy something like that in this area for sure. So yeah my vote is for renting hehe
