With the ice/snow last week, we have a bunch of live oak branches from 4 to 12 inches+ that broke off in our backyard. I'll be chopping wood and barbecuing for those on the ground, but I'm worried about a tree that has nasty cracks that could be susceptible to insects/diseases that need to be cut right off the branch and then treated.
Most of them have trees that are more than 20-30 feet tall, which is higher than a sawmill can reach, plus the size of some of them would be a problem with a saw even if they could be reached. At my age, I don't think it would be wise for me to climb a high ladder with a chainsaw to take care of this.
Are there any other suggestions other than just finding a reputable local forester who will take care of them?
