This is why I always have a voltage cable in my car. You never know what can happen with you on the road. I was in the middle of a highway and stopped at a gas station to rest from the road. I stopped for about thirty minutes, and I couldn't engine my car because the battery died. I was driving without the alternator working, so I had to find someone to help me to engine the car. When I got home, the first thing I have done I ordered a new alternator and some voltage cables from cararac.com, to avoid such situations in the future.
