I went through this. I can say that all the info provided on official websites is really confusing. You better find someone who can help you with that. Besides, all these regulations change all the time. Good luck to u!

In addition to familiarizing himself with this topic, I advise your friend to contact various insurance companies in the United States and compare the services packages provided to foreigners. There are even organizations that are engaged in consulting separately. For example, lifeinsuranceblog.net, to whom I turned when I moved to another state. They helped me a lot when choosing a new insurance plan. But apart from this, there is a lot of simple information on the Internet, where different offers are compared. Does your friend expect to work somewhere? Or is he coming to study?

Plans covering meds like Humira can be pricey, but they’re out there, and sometimes you can get a bit of help through manufacturer discounts, which brings the cost down a little.
Honestly, when I was in a similar spot, going through a local insurance agent like Lucky Penny Insurance made things a lot easier. They helped me sort through different plans, so I didn’t have to waste hours searching for something that actually fit my needs.
