How many participants are you using?
Something you might be asked when doing a UX research study is:
And why.?
All too often, we rely on what was done in the past as the answer. "Normally, we just run five or seven." This course will provide the science behind the answer to help you decide but better yet-justify your answer.
You will learn
- Why sample size matters
- Factors that influence sample size for usability testing (formative)
- When size matters: Summative studies like validation prior to launch vs. market research studies
- Flow chart decision tool for UX
This class is for anyone who will be involved in conducting or sponsoring UX research, including
- UX researchers who design and conduct the study
- Project managers who pay for the study on their product or service
- Designers who use UX research to improve their designs (can I "believe" the results?")
Some background in UX is helpful, but not required. Let's dive in!
