What follows is a collection of essential tools, techniques, and activities that all experience designers should keep handy.
These tools aren't necessarily specific to any method; many of them, in fact, existed long before agile.
But what we've done is describe the techniques in terms of what they are, and why, when, and how you apply them in the agile world.
For the fledgling designer and the would-be designer, learning, practicing, applying these tools will set you apart from those who say they can do agile customer-centred experience design, and those who actually can.
A seasoned experience designer is likely to be familiar with many of these-but it's all about how the technique varies when it has an agile flavour.
There are many great tools out there, but these are the ones that we consider the most essential.
Each tool is useful at a particular step of the UX Design process.
It's a 4-step process:
Understand context of use
Specify user requirements
Design solutions
Evaluate against requirements
We're going to discuss twenty or so tools. For each one of those, the questions will be answered:
What is it?
Why do it?
When to do it?
How to do it?
What flavor agile brings to this tool?
This course will equip you to be a better UX designer in an Agile environment!
