Why is football your favorite sport?

I grew up in Texas, which in and of itself might be a good explanation as to why football is my favorite sport. But, it really has to do with tradition. As a kid, my dad always bought season tickets to the local high school’s football games for the whole family. This was before I, or either of my sisters were even in high school. That is the tradition of high school football in Texas, particularly in the smaller towns.

As I got older, football became a very important part of weekends during the fall. In fact, when I was a freshman in high school, we had our games on Thursday night. The Friday night was varsity football. On Saturdays, if there were no projects to work on the farm, we watched college football on TV. If there were projects, we listened to games on the radio while we worked. Then Sundays were for Cowboy games. Often we had relatives come to our house to watch the games.

So, football is my favorite sport because, in my mind and background, it is associated with a lot of traditions.
