Networking Series: The Definitive Guide to Software Defined Networking (SDN)
.MP4, AVC, 1018x572, 30 fps | English, AAC, 2 Ch | 3.1h | 619 MB
Instructor: Zanis Khan

Software defined networking (SDN) virtualizes a subset of a networking infrastructure, similar to virtualizing servers in a data center. Administrators configure network devices such as switches and routers without physically touching them, allowing for proactively reacting to changing network conditions. At the core of a software defined network is a software controller, such as OpenFlow, Cisco's Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) architecture, or VMware's NSX overlay.
This comprehensive SDN course will not only make you proficient with SDN, it will also help you prepare for a number of certifications including certifications for the ONF-Certified SDN Professional Program (OCSP) and Cisco Network Programmability Engineer Specialist. These eight topics are covered in this course:
Using Docker, Open vSwitch, SDN and Openflow. Develop a proficiency in Docker, Open vSwitch, SDN, and Openflow in this first topic in the Software Defined Network (SDN) video series. Learn all about Docker, which provides a complete file system including everything needed to run an application. Understand the Docker architecture including the infrastructure, host operating system, docker engine, and hypervisor. Master Open vSwitch and how it works with virtual machines. Open vSwitch (OVS) is an open-source distributed virtual multilayer switch providing a switching stack for virtualization environments. Install GNS3 (Graphical Network Simulator 3), which will help you build, design, and test your virtual environment. Also set up OpenFlow, which is a communications protocol that gives access to the forwarding plane of a network switch or router over the network.
Using OpenDaylight, Openflow, and Wireshark. Install OpenDayLight Openflow, and Wireshark, and practice analyzing network internet traffic in this second topic in the Software Defined Network (SDN) video series. The OpenDaylight Project is a Linux open source project written in Java which offers software-defined networking and network functions virtualization. Wireshark is an open-source packet analyzer used for network analysis and troubleshooting. We continue our exploration of OpenFlow, which is a communications protocol that gives access to the forwarding plane of a network switch or router over the network.
Using the Microsoft Software Defined Network (SDN) API. Learn all about the Microsoft Software Defined Network (SDN) API in this third topic in the Software Defined Network (SDN) video series. Follow along with Zanis and see how to move a data center into a new location, including reconfiguring production switches. Explore Lync and Packet networks. Become proficient with the Control Plane and Data Plane within OpenFlow. Obtain a traditional view of Lync networking. Learn all about Application Programming Networks. Practice working with the Skype for Business SDN.
Using the RYU SDN Controller. Become proficient with the RYU Software Defined Network (SDN) Controller in this fourth topic in the Software Defined Network (SDN) video series. Ryu is a component-based software networking framework. Ryu has well-defined APIs that make it easy for developers to create new network applications, and it supports many protocols including OpenFlow, Netconf, and OF-config, Be able to explain the RYU SDN Framework. Practice the installation of Mininet, PIP, and PuTTY.
Using the HPE Network Protector. Become proficient with the HPE Network Protector in this fifth topic in the Software Defined Network (SDN) video series. The HP Network Protector uses TippingPoint, HP Networking, and ArcSight to address security and enable network intelligence on network infrastructure devices. Understand the networking concepts and architecture for combining multiple networks into a bigger network.
Using SDN, Openflow, and Mininet. Become proficient with SDN, Openflow, and Mininet in this sixth topic in the Software Defined Network (SDN) video series. Software defined networking (SDN) virtualizes a subset of a networking infrastructure, similar to virtualizing servers in a data center. OpenFlow is a communications protocol that gives access to the forwarding plane of a network switch or router over the network. Mininet is a network emulator which simulates a network of virtual hosts, controllers, switches, and links. Mininet hosts run standard Linux and its switches support OpenFlow for custom routing.
Using the REST API. Master the REST API in this seventh topic in the Software Defined Network (SDN) video series. REST stands for REpresentational State Transfer and it is used for distributed hypermedia systems. Become proficient with POST, GET, PUT, DELETE, and PATCH. Python will be used for the REST API and we will review how to get data from multiple systems including online shipping, search services, and dictionary services. Download and practice working with Python, PyCharm, and httpbin.org. Practice working with various HTTP methods.
Using Network Functions Virtualization (NFV). Become proficient with Network Function Virtualization (NFV) in this eighth topic in the Software Defined Network (SDN) video series. Network functions virtualization is a network architecture concept that virtualizes network node functions into building blocks to create communication services. Know all about Softwarization, Virtualization, and Orchestration. Become comfortable with various NFV architectures. Know about a number of NFV issues and how to resolve them. Be able to explain NFV Orchestrator (NFVO). Explore IP Allocation, policy opening, routing changes, bandwidth allocation, end to end reachability, and service testing.
